Creating Custom Made Teeth Whitening Trays

Your cosmetic dentist will create a mold of your upper and lower teeth at a teeth whitening consultation.

The mold is sent to a special dental laboratory where a cast is made form the mold. A dental laboratory technician will apply a very thin layer of plastic to each individual tooth that takes the place of the whitening gel on the teeth.

After the thin layer of plastic is applied to the cast, the technician places a heated plastic sheet onto the cast and over the thin plastic layer to create the whitening trays. The thin plastic layer holds the plastic sheet just far enough away to leave room between the teeth and the trays. This room is the whitening reservoir. Once the plastic sheet is formed and cooled, the technician removes the plastic trays and sends the teeth whitening trays to your cosmetic dentist. Your cosmetic dentist will make any adjustments necessary to the trays so they fit in your mouth perfectly.
