Prevent Dental Problems

Dental diseases such as the tooth decay and gum disease are two of the most common human diseases. Dental problems are among the most common health problems experienced by older adults. In fact, people over 65 with natural teeth have more tooth decay than any other age group. Dental problems can lead to poor nutrition. Unfortunately, these problems are often not attended to by older persons, particularly men. Some dental problems as bad breath and dry mouth might be symptoms of other serious health problems or systemic diseases. Gum disease is a serious dental problem. Gum disease has also been linked to heart disease and strokes. Gums shrink with age, exposing the tooth to decay or infection. Gum disease involves the inflammation of the gums and then infection. Gum disease can usually be prevented by good and careful teeth cleaning and regular cleanings or scale and polishes with your dentist or hygienist. Decayed teeth, which hold bacteria that can spread throughout the body, also can make a child more susceptible to other problems, such as ear and sinus infections.

A crown is a hollow cap that fits over a tooth, giving it strength and/or improving its appearance. Avoid cigarettes and chewing tobacco, which may contribute to gum disease and oral cancer. Certain medications can also aggravate gum disease, including oral contraceptives, antidepressants and heart medicines. Starchy and sugary foods increase plaque, and only a healthy diet provides the nutrients necessary to prevent gum disease. Gum Disease is an infection in the gums surrounding the teeth. Gum disease is also one of the main causes of tooth loss among adults. There are two major stages of gum disease: Gingivitis and Periodontitis. Such urgent dental problems include toothaches; fractured, loosened, and knocked-out teeth; jaw fractures; a dislocated jaw; and certain complications. Although dental problems are not exactly life-threatening, it is still a serious problem which warrants your concern and attention.

Dental Problem Prevention Tips

1. Control plaque each day by flosing and brusing your teeth

2. Use fluoride to make the tooth enamel strong. use toothpaste containing fluride every day.

3. Eat a balnced diet and snack wiseky to reduce sugar and carbohydrates.

4. Limit eating and drinking bevereges between meals.

5. Drink water more often to relieve snack hunger and to provide a refreshing,suger-free drink.

6. Get Regular dental care.

Everyone needs dental care, but in today's troubled economy, it can seem difficult to find an affordable individual dental plan to help cover the dental treatments you need. Sometimes it may seem as if hard choices must be made, to get the dental care you need or to pay other household bills. With an affordable dental plan, you no longer have to make those hard choices.

Affordable individual dental plans are not the same as dental insurance. Unlike dental insurance, discount dental insurance plans are available to everyone. Whether you are unemployed, retired, a student, a senior, or the owner of a small business, you can get the dental services you need with an affordable individual dental plan.

There are affordable options for individual dental plans, student dental plans, senior dental plans, and retiree dental plans. So now everyone can get discounts on quality dental care. Affordable dental plans will give you access to thousands of dentists, including many in your area.

Unlike dental insurance plans, discount dental plans save you money from the day you sign up for your membership. Take the card to the dentist and you will get a discount on any service you need. You simply pay the balance. That's it.

Individual dental plans are easy to join. Often you can sign up online. There is no paperwork, no pre-approval, and no cap on benefits— and no exclusions. In addition to services like check-ups, fillings and root canals, you will get discounts on braces, and on cosmetic dentistry. For senior dental plans, discounts apply to dentures and any other services that are needed.

Best of all, individual dental plans are affordable. The cost of a discount dental plan generally ranges from $80 a year for an individual to about $130 for a family. The discounts you will receive range from 10% up to 60% on most dental services. For students on a budget, this means not having to put off necessary checkups.

So how do you find the right discount dental plan for you?

First and most important, look for an affordable dental plan that is licensed by your state. Licensing means that the plan must conform to state regulations.

Second, check to see if dentists in your area accept the plan you are considering.

Finally, check the provisions of the plan against your dental needs. Make sure that discounts are offered on the treatments and care that you believe you may need.

Once you have done all this, choose the affordable individual dental plan that is licensed and best meets all your needs. Then you will have peace of mind knowing that you have access to affordable dental care whenever you need it.

Bargain deals are not limited to groceries, household products or fashion goods any more. Today, even dental care is on sale. But the catch is that you have to cross the international border to buy it.

Dental tourism, as this phenomenon is known, is a close cousin of medical tourism, and can be defined as the act of going to another country for low cost yet top class dental services.

Why go abroad for dental care?

If you have dental insurance benefits from your employer you are among the lucky few. For a lot of people who do not have dental insurance, going to see a dentist can be a big blow on their pockets.

People go abroad for dental care for one of two reasons: because it’s so much cheaper there for the same quality of care that you get at home and because it’s available with no-wait.

The low cost dental care seekers are usually Americans going mainly to Mexico, Costa Rica, or Panama. The no-wait seekers are Canadians and Britons with the former seeking help in Mexico or Central America and the latter traveling to East European countries like Belgium, Hungary, Poland or Turkey. For some dental procedures which tend to be expensive or complicated, Asian countries like India, Thailand and Singapore are becoming hot dental tourism destinations.

Can travel costs outweigh the potential savings?

Possibly, yes. So, you have to plan your trip smartly if you are to save money.

Suppose you are going on business to Costa Rica. While you are there, consider taking advantage of the low cost of dental care in the country and get some imminent dental work done, like professional dental cleaning or teeth whitening or the likes.

But what if you were in need of a full mouth restoration and didn’t exactly have any vacation planned in Thailand in the near future? Well, if you flew from the US to Thailand, had your full mouth restoration there, and spent some time holidaying in the country, you would still end up saving money than if you had had the treatment done in the US at your local dental clinic.

If you have a couple of small and big dental issues to take care of, then it might actually pay to go abroad and solve them in one go. For example: If you had to get dental bonding, root canal treatment, tooth contouring and dental fillings, it may be best if you addressed them all in the same visit.

How do you find a good dental care provider?

Of late many dental clinics have emerged hosting sleek websites and boasting high quality care by top-class dentists but often dental tourists complain of poor jobs at those clinics. So make sure that the dental clinic or dentist you choose doesn’t fall into that category. You do that by inquiring about the dental care provider in question. Word-of-mouth recommendations from friends and family help here. Ask about the credentials and experience of the dentist you are considering. Call up the provider and ask them about the equipments and technology they employ. Talking to them will also give you an idea of whether they are capable to handling foreign patients, for example by judging from their conversational skills and willingness to answer your questions.

You can save yourself the hard work of researching, planning, arranging and scheduling your dental care overseas by working with a dental tourism service providing company. Dental tourism firms like Healthbase are specialized firms that connect dental tourists to affordable and top quality dental care providers overseas. They also take care of several other related services like arranging pre-consultation conference calls with the foreign provider, digitizing and transferring your dental and medical records, ensuring that the provider is top-notch, scheduling your appointment at the foreign dental clinic, negotiating the best price for you, acquiring your passport and visa, booking your travel and accommodation, and much more.

You may learn more about the growing trend of dental tourism by visiting http://www.healthbase.com. Healthbase is a dental tourism facilitator committed to providing low cost high quality dental travel services to the global dental care consumer.

In this article, dental marketing consultant Ed O' Keefe shares about the new dental marketing ideas developed for the dental marketing business. For the dental marketing consultant, one of the best ways to become successful in the business of dental marketing is to develop new ideas, like creating a â??gameplanâ?. What does this idea of gameplan refer to? It refers to developing a gameplan that would help you to double new patients in your dental marketing business. So the more new patients that you have, the more successful you will be in your business. Developing this kind of idea is one way to be on top of the dental marketing area. Then for the dental marketing consultant, there's also the Internet. Nowadays, more and more people are using the Internet in their everyday activities. Be it in shopping through e-bay, looking up for prices of cars in automobile sites, or simply logging in to social networking sites, the Internet has been a part of people's lives already. With these facts in mind, the Internet itself can be considered as a one of the new dental marketing ideas. We can use the power of the Internet as a new strategy to become successful in the field of dental marketing. So you would ask, â??How can the Internet help you become successful in dental marketing?â? or â??What makes it fit to be considered as one of the new ideas for dental marketing?â?. The dental marketing consultant will also provide you with answers to these questions.

PART I: On Creating A Gameplan.....

So how do you create a gameplan? The answer to this is that you should come up and set for goals. The dental marketing consultant would advise you to set goals for: (1) how many new patients you want; (2) what type of patients you want to attract; (3) how many referrals you want to generate; and (4) how much you expect each patient to be worth.

#1: Setting Goals for How Many New Patients You Want:

The dental marketing consultant would say that setting goals on how many new patients you would like to have can be one of the very helpful ideas. Set the number of new patients that you would have, let's say, for a month. Having this number in your mindset can help you target a specific number of patients at a fixed rate in a month (let's say 3 patients in a month). Then as time passes by, you will be able to add more new patients to those fixed numbers of new patients ( let's say from the fixed number of 3 patients, you will be able to have 4 to 5 patients in a month, etc.).

#2: Setting Goals for What Type of Patients You Want To Attract:

The dental marketing consultant would also emphasize that determining the type of new patients that you would want to attract can also be helpful in dental marketing. These could vary from patients from different kinds of status and professions (lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc.). Having these ideas would help you in setting up the income that you would like to have in a month; as to how much you would charge for this type of patient, etc. depending on their status and professions.

#3: Setting Goals for How Many Referrals You Want To Generate:

As you will be able to satisfy your new patients with your services, the dental marketing consultant assures you that there would be a very big possibility that the number of patients that you have set for in a month will increase in number.. through their referrals. They would come up with ideas of introducing you to their friends, relatives, etc. Your patient would say, â??Hey, I'm very satisfied with the services that my dentist gives me... so maybe I would introduce them to my family and friends!â? Through this, you surely be able to be more successful in your dental marketing business!

#4: Setting Goals for How Much You Expect Each Patient To Be Worth:

For this part of the gameplan, the dental marketing consultant would advise you to set the price on how much each new patient would be worth, or what the â??lifetime value of each new patient isâ?. Say for example, you would come up with ideas that for your patient who is an accountant you would charge $900, for your patient who is a lawyer you would charge $950, and so on. Having this kind of planning in dental marketing can help you set how much income you would have within a month or a year.

PART II: On Using The Internet....

As one of the new ideas for dental marketing, the dental marketing consultant will also emphasize the importance of the Internet. The Internet is useful due to the following facts:

(1) More and More People Are Going On-line:

As stated earlier by the dental marketing consultant, more and more people are using the Internet in their daily activities. Growing numbers of people are searching on-line compared to any other media for their service providers; to get directions to places they want to go, to chat in social media directories, to get in touch with friends and other people through various social networking sites, etc. Now as you build your own website for your dental marketing business, and as more and more people are making use of the Internet, make sure that it would be presented in a way that could increase the traffic of your visitors (which could be your potential patients).

(2) The Power Of Keywords:

Coming up with a new ideas for good key words can help you become successful in dental marketing as well. The dental marketing consultant would advise you to use specific keywords (such as dental, marketing, or any specific keyword that you can come up with). If done correctly, you can literally dominate your area in the Internet... and you will be able to overcome your competitors in the business!

(3) Every Visit Counts:

As one of the best ideas, getting new patients through the Internet in dental marketing is absolutely FREE! The more visitors you have on your site, the higher the ranking of your page is. So, if your site ranks higher in the search engine, then you can get people to find your own website without having to pay google, yahoo, etc. for every click. And this means your site will possibly be much more â??famousâ? than any other site in the net. So that's why the dental marketing consultant would emphasize the fact that every visit counts!

(4) The Best Of Both Worlds:

If you have ideas of getting free (or natural) traffic and get paid traffic as well, then you can enjoy the best of both worlds in the Internet! For the dental marketing consultant, the key is that when someone searches for â??Your Town Cosmetic Dentistâ? in the Internet, you would want to be the one that is displayed all over google or yahoo. Whether your visitors would look up, down, to the left or to the right, it doesn't matter. You want all doors to lead to you!

So, the dental marketing consultant reminds you to keep these goals in mind as you go on with your dental marketing business. Always remember that having a gameplan will always help you to make it to the top of your business! We can also clearly see the importance of the Internet in the business of dental marketing. Having these new ideas for dental marketing will not only give you more and more patients, but lots of income as well. Therefore, the more patients that you have, the more rewarding it would be!

Most Dental Assistants work hard to ensure the best quality treatment available to all patients. However, there are those who don't live up to the expectations of the patient. The patient has the right to address this issue with the dental facility. If they do not feel their complaint has been properly handled, they can then file a complaint with the State Dental Board.

State Dental Boards are responsible for regulating dental practices. They work hard to protect the public against improper behaviours by Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, and Dentists. They are to thoroughly investigate all complaints filed that involve competency. State Dental Boards do not handle complaints such as fee disputes, personality conflicts, rude behaviours, or difficulty with scheduling appointments in a timely manner. Such issues are to be referred to the Better Business Bureau.

It is important to file a complaint with the State Dental Board as soon as possible to allow then to be of the most help. Most states allow you to file your complaint online, over the phone, or you can request a form be sent to you in the mail. Some states will only accept a complaint in writing.

Dental Assistants need to be aware of the process that patients can go through if they have a complaint. Dental Assistants need to be cooperative during the investigation. If a Dental Assistant feels a patient may file a complaint, it is important to write down as much information as possible. This information needs to include the patient's name, date, time, and what took place. Also document any verbal interactions and who all was present to observe the incident. This information will be very useful to you and to the State Dental Board.

The Dental Board works hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. However, it will not rush the efforts to investigate it properly. Some complaints are resolved in a matter of days while others linger for years. Once a complaint has been filed, a copy of it is sent to the dental facility for a response. Generally, the dental facility is given a specific time frame to have their response back to the State Dental Board.

Once the response is received and reviewed, the Dental Board will compare the information to that on the complaint. From there, a course of action will be mapped out. This generally involved conducting interviews of all parties present during the incident. A panel is set up to investigate if any dental laws were violated. If there appears to be a violation, a hearing will be scheduled. The Dental Assistant will be notified as well as required to show up for the hearing.

If the Dental Assistant is found to be in violation of dental laws, the Dental Board will issue a reprimand. This will depend on the state guidelines as well as the violation. Reprimands may include a letter of apology, suspension, probation, or even revocation of the Dental Assistant's license. The Dental Board is not allowed to require monetary compensation. If the person filing the complaint wants to be compensated in that manner, they will need to file a civil suit with their local judicial system.

Dental Assistants who find themselves in the middle of a complaint issue with the Dental Board are likely to experience anxiety and fear. Many dental facilities will provide the individual with counseling as well as legal consultation. In most cases, it will depend on the issue the Dental Board is investigating. If the dental facility backs the Dental Assistant they will do all they can? However, if they feel the Dental Assistant is in violation of dental regulations they may terminate the individual, leaving them to pay for their own defence.

It is the responsibility of the Dental Assistant to follow all policies and procedures correctly. If you have any doubt, take the time to have everything explained to you. Losing a complaint under the Dental Board can cost you your job, as well as your career. If you lose your license, you may find it difficult to obtain another job in the profession as a Dental Assistant. Making sure you follow policies and procedures will ensure that you have a good chance of winning such complaints upon a complete review and investigation by the Dental Board.

Indian Dental tourism provides cost savings and a good quality result for dental bonding treatment in India at Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Imagine that you are getting to be wedded after a month and you wanted a perfect smile and your budget is tight. Your teeth are decayed or chipped in looks making you feel miserable. Now you would go to a cosmetic dentist who would either cover your discolored teeth or lineup your crooked teeth to glamourise your smile. Dental bonding treatment is one of the most recognized and extensive dental procedures that repairs decayed teeth, repairs chipped or cracked teeth, improves the appearance of discolored teeth, makes teeth look longer, changes the shape of teeth, acts as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings, makes teeth look longer. Cosmetic dental procedures are often expensive and the cost of dental bonding may cost $150-$200 but Indian dental treatment clinics of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Goa give a cost discount of $20-50$ per tooth and that really makes a big difference. Dentistry techniques given by Indian dental surgeons are of avon quality and dental bonding treatment in India assures one to get complete restoration of your smile.

Medical care facilities in India are of A grade level yet they ensure good cost savings that’s why patients from all over the world readily get dental procedures like dental bonding treatment in India. Dental bonding treatment is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately \"bonds\" the material to the tooth to restore or improve person\'s smile. The procedure of dental bonding treatment requires special advance preparation. Anesthesia is not necessary unless the dental bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Your dentist will use a shade guide to select a composite resin color that will closely match the color of your tooth. The procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth to complete. Dental bonding treatment is one of the most simple and least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures. Unlike dental veneers and dental crowns, which are customized with tooth coverings that must be manufactured in a laboratory, dental bonding is usually done in one office unless several teeth are involved. The most significant advantage of dental bonding treatment as compared with dental veneers and dental crowns, is that the least amount of tooth enamel is removed. Also, unless dental bonding is being performed to fill a cavity, anesthesia is usually not required another benefit of dental bonding treatment is that the least amount of tooth enamel is removed.

Indian dental tourism has tie ups with most expert dental treatment surgeons who provide a successful and medically successful dental bonding treatment in India at Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Goa. Foreign medical tourist love to get medical treatment procedures and health recovery in India as they get adequate and good quality medical state of art facilities, 24/7 hours service of Indian medical staff and a world class post surgery medical rehabilitation. Since dental bonding treatment is so versatile, it can be used in a wide array of situations. As an alternative to silver amalgam, bonding can be used to fill cavities and repair decayed teeth. Patients can smile confidently with bonding versus with a mouth full of silver fillings. In addition, bonding can replace the void left behind from a chip, crack, or any gap in teeth. If a patient is unsatisfied with the length, color, or shape of their teeth, bonding can be applied to adjust their teeth to a level that. Along with a cheap cost budget dental treatment in India foreign patients enjoy visiting exotic and beautiful Indian destinations like Kashmir, hill stations of Oooty, pleasant sea beaches of Goa and thrilling wild life sanctuaries of Central and North India for their recreation purpose and Indian medical institutions arrange provisions for their comfortable inland travel.

Discount dental plans are the ideal option for any person without dental cover who is concerned about their family's dental needs. The rising cost of dental care can often cripple one's monthly budget should a dental emergency arise. From cavities to a chipped tooth, we can never be sure when we will require immediate dental care. Unlike the common cold or a mild rash, a dental emergency requires immediate medical attention from a dental professional. Ask yourself if you can cope with a hefty dental bill should your child need immediate dental attention.

Before you rush off to buy a dental plan, consider these questions to assist with your choice of dental plan. Can I afford the monthly premium for a traditional dental plan? Are the dental plan limits sufficient should my family and I be faced with repeated dental emergencies in the year? Will my dental plan offer me significant savings on each visit to the dentist? If you are having doubts about your dental health insurance, a discount dental plan may be the ideal option for you and your family.

Dental examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, braces and dentures, the host of dental needs can quickly leave one out of pocket should you have not budgeted for dental work. A discount dental plan is a reduced fee for service dental cover marketed directly to consumers and removes the costs and commission of the middleman. A discount dental plan can offer you savings of up to 50% of your usual dental bill and has no annual limit for claims, no health restrictions and no laborious paperwork.

This type of dental plan is only suitable if you have a participating dentist within your vicinity. Participating dental practitioners agree to accept a lower than usual fee for their dental services and may provide most or all dental procedures at discounted rates. With a discount dental plan, you can visit a participating dentist and rest assured that you will not face a whopping bill at the end of the month.

A discount dental plan is the ideal option for a cost-conscious person, especially if you have a family's dental needs to consider. With reduced costs, no annual limits and no restrictions, a discount dental plan can save you money and a lot of stress in these tough economic times.

Dental Insurance or Dental Plan?

Go to DentalCareAdvice.info to see much more information and to compare dental plans in your area.

It is more common now that you will find people who just don't have Dental Health Insurance. It is also more common that work places do not offer their employees dental insurance. Now, we all know that dental coverage can be very expensive, but it is also true that trying to pay out of pocket is no walk in the park either.

So what are we to do if we cannot afford dental insurance coverage? Well the worst thing you can do is to just do nothing about it and simply avoid the dentist. The consequences of NOT going to the dentist for regular check-ups can be severe. There are many health complications that go far beyond just teeth when someone decides to avoid the dentist office completely. Even preventative dental care is important to your health just as much as it is vital to your wallet. After all, a tooth cavity is much cheaper than a root canal, which will be the end result of letting that cavity go for too long.

I have a friend that received dental insurance through his employer, and when he got some dental work done he discovered that he had used up all of his insurance and everything else had to be paid out of pocket. As a result he ended up not having any more dental work done. Sadly, many are in this same situation.

But there is another solution for affordable dental care that a great number of people are starting to look into, and maybe you should too. It's called a dental discount plan. Now this is not dental insurance, but it saves you money at the dentist and is quick and easy to set up.

There are a few main differences between Discount Dental Plans and Dental Insurance which I will cover here:

Dental Insurance

Limits on what is covered and yearly maximums that all too often are easy to reach
A long waiting time for certain procedures, while you agonize in pain at home
The Hassle of forms and claims that is all to synonymous with dental insurance
Premiums that are expensive, even when you have no serious dental issues
Usually you can only get Dental Insurance through an employer.

Now that last one is the reason most people do not have dental insurance. Some will even choose a job based on if they offer dental.

Discount Dental Plans may not be for everyone, but there are a few positive things about it that you should know before you go make that next appointment with your dentist.

Dental Discount Plan

No yearly limitations
Very fast activation, usually within a few days.
No heaps of paperwork. Simple membership card is all you need to show the dentist
No health requirements or limitations.
Some plans even include cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics
Dental Plans made available to individuals and families

As you have seen, one very nice aspect of a dental plan is that they do pay for orthodontics work as well. Good luck trying to get your dental insurance to cover that.

Oral health is one of the most neglected aspects of our health in society today and yet it is one of the most vital. Now, while a discount dental plan will not pay the full price for your dental work, it's nice to know that for only $79 or more a month you can get some pretty nice discounts on dental procedures. There will be no maximum limitations but rather a percentage discounted for the work you have done.

Some dental plans give you access to over 100,000 dentists, so you can be sure to find a dentist in your area. I think many more will be going to discount dental plans as you have much more freedom and flexibility, along with the fact that you are covered for more cosmetic procedures. There are even heavy discounts with a dental plan for those getting braces.

Don't neglect your oral health. It is too important. Preserving that beautiful smile may cost a few bucks, but in the long run, you will want to smile more, knowing you didn't let those dental insurance companies take all your money.

See more information at www.DentalCareAdvice.info

I am always looking for ways to save the consumer a few extra bucks. It's important to be frugal but also to have a giving spirit.

Everyone wants a solution that sets sail successfully the first time. Most dentists have just skirted around the edges of marketing. Actually that is what most businesses do. Unfortunately, at some point the winds change and luck, location (cubed), and trial and error are no longer on their side.

A strong, consistent, proactive communication strategy is the only way to sail on these rough seas.

Here are seven dental marketing strategies that will completely unfurl your sales!

1) Right Your Dental Website

Most dental websites are listing in a generic Internet sea. Lots of dental services are written about but little or no real human warmth can be found in this frigid North Sea of uninspired content.

Write, write, and write to right your website. With all the sites out there now, you need to say dentistry with real people in mind. Your dental web site content should be worth knowing about rather than just floating out there like a buoy without a real-life perspective mooring.

2) Sales Faster With Dental Direct Mail

Communicating effectively often requires someone to take the lead. Direct mail gets out in front faster than almost anything you can do. Dental practices that want more than galley leftovers need to mutiny against generic marketing and take the fight for hearts and minds to the home front and mailbox.

Nothing else is as local, as targeted or as proactive. Rather than waiting for consumers like all other marketing it goes right to the head of household and says, “Look at me, why wait, you need it now!” You need to say it the right way and with an eye on building value. But you can use dental postcards; a brochure-mailer or whatever works best for your dentistry brand. Direct mail puts significant wind in the sales of your Internet strategy as well.

3) Gain Supremacy of The Online Seas for Your Dental Practice

Web surfers are searching for exactly what you offer. Whether its dental implants or porcelain veneers, smile makeovers or advanced cosmetic dentistry, you can be the one with the phone calls, new patients, and revenue booty. Even in dangerous economic waters, it is possible to sale well.

This is not brute force online advertising. It’s a niche strategy for the dental practice that wants patients who are ready to buy what they offer. No longer haggle about price. Say heave ho to the dental insurance anchor. Start steering your online strategy toward your higher-lever services and the consumers who will pay for them in a good and not so good economy.

4) Define Your Dental Niche Rather Than Being A Dentistry Parrot

If you say the same things every other dentist is saying, you will be like a parrot on a creativity lacking, dental marketing pirate shoulder that’s squawking and hawking the same thing. Instead, say less about dental services and focus more on your dental expertise.

Consumers will never see the value in your expertise if you hoist the same flag (grocery list of dental services) your competition does.

5) Real Dental Branding Halts The Plank Walk To Irrelevance

First, dental logos are not brands. They are brand elements. Completely transform your brand like you want your patients to transform their smiles. Otherwise Davy Jones’ Locker is ready to swallow your sales numbers.

You no longer work on teeth. Currently, consumers see teeth in your brand when price, low value, and dental insurance are still magnets in their compass. With effective brand development, the consumer will know you see THEM. Then the focus is not on their teeth, which have less value to them. They are not their teeth, their mouths or even their smiles.

Create a brand around your dentistry expertise and the value you offer PEOPLE. Tooth and toothbrush logos, half off whitening coupons and the like are grounds for plank walking in this tight market. Quit degrading your value. Branding prevents dental expertise irrelevance.

6) Be Unique To Avoid Being Set Adrift in a Dentist Without Differentiation Dinghy

The market has gotten crowded with “we do dental care like that too” competitors. Sameness will sink almost every communication ship you set sail in with the today’s hyper-competition for the consumer’s money.

Dental insurance reliance takes more profits out with the tide. The low price dentistry sales method is taking on water like mad because it has nowhere to go but down. Taking your dental practice into unique waters is often a calmer experience. The waters are clear, making it easier for consumers to see you, evaluate your value, and start appreciating the worth of your dental expertise.

7) Guide Your Marketing Efficiently With A Sturdy Dental Coaching Rudder

Why get a dental marketing coach? Actually you can do it all yourself. Like I could voyage into megapascal math and meth mouth makeovers, you could set sail on a masters (and commander) graduate course in dental marketing. Or we can each do what we do best, and I can help you sail to your port of call a whole knot quicker.

Running your dental practice aground is easy to do if the winds change. Get command of a seaworthy craft with an expertly righted, communication strategy. Of course, it’s always your choice whether you go with an expert or not. Likewise, the consumer has many choices. You need Niche Dental coaching services to give you the helm during dental consults.

Niche Dental helps consumers see YOUR expertise as valid and valuable before they arrive, releasing the knot of objections in case acceptance. Otherwise consumers will continue to open the rum barrel of low value, minimal results, and never-pay-out-of-pocket dentistry.

Either take this route or invest in my new book and we can make money on these wading-in-low-waters consumers. It will be sold on the All-Generic Dentistry, All The Time cable channel and DentalOverStockOverBoard.com. The book, Dental Care for Rummies, makes consumers feel good about low priced, insurance covered, fast-paced, and simplistic solutions dentistry.

CONCLUSION: Sailing Your Dental Practice Through a Downturn

Wanting a simple solution to your dental marketing dilemma is a natural expectation. But if you think about how the consumer often reacts to anything without a dental insurance life raft, the simple expectation sinks quickly. While there are some “simple” solutions in dentistry and marketing, they often cost more, require more time, or need an expert touch.

Paying for dental coaching, spending more for the right marketing, and developing a long term plan makes sense, even now. In an economic downturn, many consumers actually spin the helm toward a counterintuitive bearing. They start looking for value, wanting more bang for their doubloon. It’s counterintuitive because expensive purchases are not removed from the table. The value treasure chest is still very full for many consumers, especially the 77 million baby boomers who need more dentistry.

Promoting your expertise in higher-level dental treatment will standout. Consumers will notice because everyone else will be retreating to cheap and cheaper marketing waters. Fly the flag of the low priced pirate dental marketer and see your frigate get hit with the cannons of low profit and work your butt off dentistry. Avoid the low value services bottleneck; catch the wind a change in direction provides.

If you are not ready to string me up on the mizzen because of all my sailing references, call me to discuss your dental marketing needs. Then we can get everything shipshape in a matter of few nautical miles.

Finding Inexpensive Dental Services

It is not uncommon to find families and individuals with no dental health insurance at all. Dental insurance is not usually offered to employees by their employers. Although carrying dental insurance can be hard on the budget, it's usually more economical than having to pay for it without the benefit of insurance.

What is the answer if paying for dental insurance coverage is out of the question? Doing nothing about it and avoiding visiting your dentist is probably the worst thing you could do. Allowing a tooth cavity to go for too long can cause much more expensive bill. After all a root canal cannot be cheaper than a cavity.

You might want to look into an alternative option for affordable dental care that's currently being considered by a growing number of people. This is refered to as a dental discount plan. Keep in mind this isn't dental insurance, yet it will reduce your dental expenses and is fast and simple to start using. Dental care that is inexpensive is not out of the question.

Discount dental plans are superior to dental insurance in the following ways:
Many dental insurance coverage plans will pay only up to $1000 per year, and discount dental plans will not limit you in this way.

You can start using dental plans immediately as they are activated in a few days, whereas dental insurance has a much longer waiting period.

While dental plans only require a membership card for use at each visit, dental insurance involves the hassle of completing tons of required paperwork.

Dental insurance companies often demand patients meet certain health requirements before they offer coverage, whereas dental plans have no health restrictions.

Dental plans assure you discounts for a broad spectrum of dental procedures that usually are not covered by your dental insurance, even cosmetic dentistry like braces and teeth whitening.

Though essential in modern society, oral health tends to be one of the most neglected interests within it. We know that discount dental plans do not pay the entire cost of your dental work. There is a plan for at least $79 a month that will get you some nice discounts on dental procedures and some very inexpensive dental work There is a percentage discount for the share of the work that you complete, but no maximum limit.

Often dental plans will offer access to thousands of dentists, ensuring that you'll be able to locate one near you. In my opinion, more people will choose a discount dental plan, because it will offer more freedom of choice. When getting braces you can get a major discount with a dental plan. Dental plans make it so easy to get cheap dental care.

Tending to your good oral health is essential. It's of a high priority. It is possible for you to prevent a smile which smile by using a small amount of money, and indeed you can smile profusely, even though you did not permit the dental insurance companies to eat away all your finance. Cheap dental aid is what available to you.
----------
Read more great articles on dentistry plans and insurance and sign up for dental plans. Check out www.affordable-dental.net

I am always looking for ways to save the consumer a few extra bucks. It's important to be frugal but also to have a giving spirit.

Dentistry is mostly associated with regular 6 month checkups and general cleaning. Even though this is considered to be the easiest and the dental treatments with the least amount of work involved it is probably the most important of all dentistry treatments.

General Dentistry is basically a foothold for dentistry treatment, at the end of the day the dentist would be much happier to see your teeth and gums healthy and only needing minor dental work done on them, than you having a poor dental health and needing more serious treatments such as implants; after all the saying does go ‘prevention is cheaper than the cure', and this is certainly true in terms of dentistry

The most popular procedures in general dentistry include filling cavities, root canal treatment, tooth repair and a general clean upkeep of your teeth. If you are facing a problem of tooth cavity, your dentist will remove the bad tissue and damaged enamel and make sure that the whole tooth is clean and sterile for the next part of the process to take place. This is followed by a cavity filling, with tooth coloured fillings.

In a root canal treatment, your dentist will drill a small hole into your tooth so that they can effectively remove the damaged and diseased pulp and root, and clean the inside of the tooth. Root canals are often associated with the most painful part of dentistry and it is essential that you undergo treatment for it as soon as you feel any pain whatsoever so that is does not have the chance to get worse and result in tooth extraction. General cleaning of the teeth is probably the most important part of all the treatments, a dentist can get to places in your mouth that you would struggle to clean. They can also guide you in how to keep an optimum mouth cleanliness and how to brush your teeth effectively to remove all plaque.

Dental implant is a procedure in dentistry whereby an artificial tooth root is used in order to support reconstruction that resembles a group of teeth or a single tooth.

Today there are a number of implants available and each one is designed to perform a particular function. Titanium, an inactive metal or metal that is inert and which has been tested and recorded to be very effective in combining with the living bone, is used in most dental implants today. The process by which the living bone and the surface of the artificial titanium implant are structurally and functionally connected is called "Osseointegration".

The jawbone plays a very important role in Dental implant. The size and shape of the jawbone has a very vital role to play in terms of deciding the type of implant required in an individual. Where the jawbone is deep and wide, a screw type cylindrical implant which is called "root-form" very similar to the actual tooth root is placed. Where the bone of the jaw is short and narrow and it is almost impossible to place a root form implant, the jawbone area is enhanced by bone grafting which helps easy and effective placement of the root form implant. For short and narrow jawbones, which cannot be enhanced by grafting of the bone, a special form of implant called the "plate form" implant is used. In cases where there has been a complex bone loss, another form of implant called the "subperiosteal" form of implant is prescribed.

Root Form Implants:

These are considered to be the closest in size and shape when compared with the root of the original tooth. They are mostly used in deep and wide jaw bones that provide a wide base for replacing one or more teeth. Once anesthetic is applied, the dentist exposes the jawbone area where the implant needs to be placed and makes the bone ready to receive the implant. The dentist carefully sets the implant in place and then closes the gums with stitches. It takes about three to six months to a year for it to heal. This is when Osseointegration occurs and the bone starts growing around the implant. This creates a bond that is strong which is usually stronger than the previous original tooth. Once it heals completely, the dentist uncovers the implant and a cap is attached which acts like a strong unit to support the new teeth.

Plate Form Implants:

In cases where the jaw bone is too short or narrow and unsuitable for bone grafting, another type of implants called the Plate form implants are used instead of root form implants. In this method a long and flat implant is fixed into the short or small jawbone. Once the dentist applies anesthetic, the dentist exposes the jawbone area that needs the implantation to be done and prepares the bone such that it adjusts to the new shape. There is generally a healing period in this form of implant similar to that of the root form of implant where the Osseointegration occurs; however some of these implants are designed to restore immediately.

Subperiosteal Implants

In extreme conditions where there has been a huge damage and the jaw bone is not sufficiently wide or deep for the plate form or root form implant; an advanced subperiosteal form implant can also be suggested. This implant is tailored to rest on the top but is kept below the gums.

A Dental Implant can be described as a small rod, generally made of titanium which is placed on the jaw bone in order to hold and support a false tooth. This implant combines with the jaw bone over several months leaving a small attachment projecting out through the gum. This attachment helps bridges or dentures to be clipped on to it.

The complete dental implant process is a collaborative effort between a surgical dentist and a restorative dentist. The surgical dentist is responsible for placing the implant and the restorative dentist handles the final replacement of the teeth.

This process is undertaken in three steps:

Step I - First Surgery:

Preparing for the surgery:

Considering the complications involved in the surgery and the anesthesia that requires to be administered, most dental surgeries take place at the Dental Office. All instructions that are given prior to the surgery need to be followed with utmost care.

During Surgery:

The Surgical dentist will provide medication which will help you feel relaxed or sleepy. Then anesthesia is administered to desensitize the place where the implant is to be placed. The complete end to end process will take about two to three hours.

While performing the first surgery, the surgical dentist carefully prepares the jawbone to receive the implant:

An incision or an opening is created which exposes the bone over the site of the implant

Then using a special drill, water is passed through the centre which helps in preparing the bone site

Now the metal implant is twisted and adjusted into the right place

Finally using several stitches the gums are closed and the incision is covered for months in order to allow healing.

Once the first surgery is completed, the dental assistant suggests oral hygiene instructions, prescriptions for pain killers and antibiotics and also details of follow up process to keep a close check on the healing process.

During the months of healing, the metal implant connects with the jawbone structurally and functionally. This process is called "Osseointegration".

Unnecessary pressure on the jaw bone should be avoided by having soft foods and the complete mouth including the other teeth and gums should be kept clean.

Step II - Second Surgery:

Once the Osseointegration process is complete and the surgical dentist is convinced that the implants are firmly held, an extension or abutment (small titanium connector) is attached.

The second surgery will be completed in about half an hour after which the assistant suggests oral hygiene instructions and additionally suggests that the attachments should be cleaned gently using a soft toothbrush.

Step III – Attaching the prosthesis

In this step the restorative dentist designs the new tooth, checks if it fits well and attaches it to the metal abutment. This dental prosthesis could either be fixed or removable. Fixed prosthesis can only be removed by the dentists; however removable one can be removed by the individuals themselves.

Dental implants restoration is also known as crown dental implant. This involves the process of making an artificial tooth to connect to the dental implant. The restoration process commences when the implant or implants are already placed. This normally happens in a period of three months after the surgery has been undertaken. This period allows the tissue to recover and be ready for further treatment.

When the area is ready, the initial process involves puncturing a hole in the gum tissue and an abutment is placed on the implants. This abutment is a metal cylinder where the tooth is placed. Normally, the abutments are of different lengths, colors, angles and widths. This is because of the many variations in the patients' teeth; the choice should be able to blend with the natural characteristics of the natural tooth.

When the right abutment is chosen, the measurements of the teeth are taken. These measurements are then sent to the laboratory for the final tooth. While the final tooth is built, a temporary implant tooth is placed. This is removed when the final tooth is ready.

The next step of the dental implants restoration is the placing of the final implant with some adjustments when necessary. When this is done, your tooth can already function as a normal tooth. This means you also have to give it the same attention and care as your other teeth.

Regardless of whether the patient goes through single or multiple implants restoration process, the same process will be done. It only becomes repetitive for multiple implants. The final crowns can come up with several single crowns connecting a fixed denture by a bridge. This depends on how the case was planned and executed by your dentist. No matter what process has been done, the important thing is that you can again show your beautiful smile and be able to face anybody with a high confidence level.

If you are interested in seeing the whole dental implants restoration process, you will find several online sites that show a demonstration of this procedure. You will know the specific stages that you have to go through for this important dental procedure.

It has been many years since man was concerned about finding the solution to replacing missing teeth. Because of technology, this is easily possible. There are many options to solve this concern, from artificial dentures to bridges to dental implants. The more effective, durable, long lasting and reliable approach to solving the problem is dental implants and this is now an option considered by more and more people. It is now considered as the natural and better solution for solving the missing teeth problem.

Dental implant is a tooth replacement procedure and it is of two types. One is an implant sitting on the jaw bone and underneath the gums. The other one is an implant that fits into the jawbone which is similar to the structure of the natural tooth. The similarity is that these two types are both attached to the jawbone.

Having a dental implant can give you the following advantages compared to other options.

1. Chewing is not a problem because the implants are attached to the bone. The process of chewing is natural even with the implants. You will also not need to worry about loosening of the teeth as they are permanently attached to the bone.

2. Your teeth will look, feel and function just like your natural teeth. You can smile without worries of loosened dentures. You will also be able to say goodbye to adhesive and clasps.

3. Dental implants reduce cases of gums irritation and pain.

With the bond of the implant to your bone, there is no likelihood of having swollen gums caused by the decay in the teeth that attach the artificial tooth. The adjacent teeth will not be affected by the implant unlike using bridges.

4. Your speech can be improved.

Because of the seemingly natural growth of teeth, there is fullness of natural teeth that can make speaking easier and more understandable.

5. Dental implants can improve the quality of the jawbone.

Because of the connection to the bone, the possibility of bone loss or bone shrinkage is low. The dental implant procedure stimulates the bone and allows it to build up within the implant area. Hence, the surrounding bone structure becomes active.

With the above dental implant benefits, you will see that this is the best option in solving your dental problems. You will be able to confidently and beautifully smile with that natural look of real teeth.

Dental implant may be a major cost if you have a tight budget. Normally, it costs between 1320 pounds and 2970 pounds and this is only for one restored tooth. If there are other procedures that need to be done, the cost can even be higher. Such procedures can include sinus lift or bone graft whichever is necessary. Hence, the average dental implant cost can go up to 9230 pounds. The cheaper way is to go for mini dental implants and the cost could be reduced by around 30%.

The dental implant cost covers the materials that will be used and the processes to complete the procedure. The materials include the artificial tooth that will be used in the process and the dental implant per se. Imaging or the X-ray process is included in the cost. When necessary, C.T scan is performed as it is more accurate and modern. This is a more expensive but reliable alternative.

The laboratory cost involved in producing the crown or the final tooth is also included in the fees that you will pay. The labor cost or the professional fee is a part of the fees that you will have to pay. This is normal in any medical procedure.

Further, if there are specific treatments that are related to the oral hygiene, age or the anatomy of the bone, these treatments will be incorporated in the dental implant cost.

These are the standard pricing considerations and the rates except for the expertise or labor cost which is dependent on the geographical location. These are the dental implant costs that you will have to prepare for if you are interested in undergoing the procedure.

Dental implant cost needs a major budget preparation and it will be best to scout or look for cheap but quality dental implants in your local area or online. You will be able to compare the prices, the coverage and decide on the most reasonable cost that you would be willing to pay. You just need to allocate a certain amount of time for the process to know which will be the cheapest alternative.

Although price is your major consideration, you should not forget to gather information about the credibility and reputation of the company before going through the dental implant procedure.

Dental Implants

There are many factors that need to be considered before deciding whether to use a bridge or dental implants. Some of these factors are given below for you to determine which one will be appropriate for you.

1.Jaw bone preservation

Dental implants allow you to preserve your jawbone. This is because the dental implant treatment is done in an area where there are no teeth. Hence, the bone area will be stimulated and the problem of bone loss in the area will not happen. In a bridge, the procedure connects two teeth and there is no pressure on the jaw bone. This can cause the shrinking of the bone because of the absence of stimulation.

2.Better oral health

With dental implants, the health of your teeth will not be affected. The healthy ones will remain and they will not be affected by the process. On the other hand, using a bridge requires connection with the other teeth and may require you to sacrifice the health of the adjacent teeth to provide the needed bridge support.

3. Easy Oral hygiene

Because of the easy access to the teeth done with dental implants, the usual dental care can be easily done. Bridge requires regular flossing and this can take much of your time. With dental implants, the effort of everyday oral care is just the same as without the implants.

4. Durability

As the dental implants rely on the connection of the teeth to the jaw bone, it makes them last for up to ten years. Bridge, on the other hand, relies on the strength of the teeth that the bridge is connected to. Bridge will totally rely on the natural teeth that can also be subject to decay and diseases while the implants are made of titanium and are not prone to diseases.

5. Aesthetics

The results of dental implants vs. bridge are better because of the technology that is used. They look more natural and exactly like your natural teeth.

6. Price

If you are considering the cost, you can choose bridge vs. dental implants. However in the long run, the advantages of using dental implants outweigh the cost. The durability is proportional to the cost.

Taking all of the above into consideration, you now have enough basis for deciding whether you will prefer a bridge or dental implants.

Dental implants are artificial or false teeth that are used to take the place of the missing teeth. Dental implants are made of metal, generally titanium as it bonds well biologically with the living bone. Dental implant procedure is the complete end to end process from the time an individual walks into the dental clinic the first time until the time he walks out of the clinic with his wonderful smile restored.

The complete Dental Implant Procedure is a joint effort between the surgical dentist who is responsible for setting the dental implant in place and the restorative dentist who handles the final restoration of the teeth.

This process of Dental implant is carried out in 2 different stages. There is a minimum gap of 3 months of healing period between the two stages.

Dental Implant Surgery: This stage involves the placement of the implant by the surgical dentist into the jaw bone. This stage begins with the surgical dentist administering anesthesia to desensitize the area where the implant is to be placed. Once the area becomes inactive, the dentist creates an incision on the gum's tissue and exposes the jaw bone. Then a special drill is used to make a hole into the bone and water is passed through this hole to prepare the bone site. Now the metal implant is twisted and set into the right place. Finally the dentist closes the gums with several stitches and the opening in the bone is covered and left to heal for a minimum of 3 months or more. During the healing months, the jaw bone grows around the implant and the implant connects structurally and functionally with the bone. This process is called Osseointegration.

Restoration of the Implant: This stage calls for the restorative dentist who places a crown like object on top of the implant. Post the healing period, the surgical dentist inspects the status of the jaw bone and once he is convinced that the implant is firmly held, another hole is punctured right above the implant and a metal cylinder called an abutment is attached. The artificial tooth is built into this abutment. Once the abutment is adjusted in place, the dentist measures and determines the size of the artificial tooth and the details are sent to the dental laboratory for constructing the false tooth. Until the final tooth is ready, a temporary implant tooth will be placed on the abutment. Once the reconstructed tooth is ready, the restorative dentist places the new tooth and carries out some final touches if required.

Both the procedures are very simple and common. In case where the jaw bone is not a suitable candidate to begin with the Dental implant surgery, it is crafted and reshaped by bone grafting or a sinus lift process for it to be able to receive the implant.

The time taken to complete the dental implant procedure may vary from individual to individual depending on the individual's anatomy, physical condition and other oral hygiene conditions. However, the maximum time is consumed by Osseointegration or the healing process.

There are cases where the dentists can restore the false tooth right on the day of the surgery. This is called immediate loading and takes less time. This enables the individual to walk home with his smile restored on the very same day.

Dental implant is a process of replacing a tooth by bonding an artificial one with the jaw bone. The effects of this procedure can lead to great results with your teeth looking natural and real. However, with some procedures, there may be some complications; especially if the patient's general health condition is not ready for the process.

The problems and complications related to dental implants are given below:

1. Infection

Because of the process of bonding the dental implant with the jaw bone and its access to the gums, infection can happen. When the implant is first placed on to the jaw, there is a high possibility of this complication happening. Sometimes, even with a high level of care, because of the exposure to the tissues within the area where the dental implant procedure takes place, an infection can happen.

2. Dental Implant Rejection

This happens because the dental implant is a foreign body entering your natural body system. Sometimes, with sensitive systems, the rejection occurs and it is difficult to proceed with the procedure. This kind of problem also happens in other surgeries like liver or kidney transplant.

3. Dental Implant Overload

When two or more teeth are placed in one implant, there can be an overload and this can cause too much pressure on the supporting bone. It is important that after a dental implant procedure, there is not much biting pressure placed on the implant. Healing time is needed to allow the bone to build up and be able to stand pressures.

4. Dental Implant Failure

When the titanium implant bends or breaks, there is a dental implant failure and this can cause complications that need to be addressed immediately. However, because of modern and advanced technology, the possibility of this happening is very low compared to earlier years.

5. Inflammation

This is possible especially when infection has occurred in the dental implant. The inflammation occurs in the gums and bone area.

The above are the common dental implant complications that can be avoided if you have a reliable and credible dental implant dentist. Preparation for the procedure is done and there are measures to avoid such problems.

Dental implants are procedures carried out to restore teeth and still be able to show a nice smile without the impression of having the traditional dentures. With today's technology, dental implant problems are less frequent and they have a success rate of 98%.

Dental implant problems include procedures to allow the dental implants to correctly bond to a person's jaw bone. This is also technically referred to as osseointegrating with the jaw bone.

When the implant is not able to osseointegrate correctly, there are dental implant problems that you need to handle. These include the following specific concerns.

1. Dental implant infection

This can be caused by the patient's poor oral hygiene and it happens during the dental implant process. The infection results into bone inflammation within the implant area. This is a major problem since it is the primary cause for the rejection of dental implants.

2. Problem with the sufficiency of bone mass

When the jaw bone volume is not sufficient, the dental implant may not bond properly. When this dental implant problem is seen, a scenario of bone graft becomes an option during the surgery. This will lead to a lower incidence of complications.

3. Patient's general health condition

Patients who are in great shape will end up with a high rate of success in the dental implant process. However, those who are suffering from chronic illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer may have dental implant problems. The bone growth is highly dependent on the blood supply and poor health condition can result into a more challenging procedure.

4. Loading the implants immediately

This can force the tooth to disturb the critical osseointegration process. It is important not to load the dental implants immediately to ensure that pressure is not applied to the implant.

The above are the common dental implant problems. When any of the above happens, the immediate thing that a dentist does is to wait for a certain time for the area to heal and redo the surgery when it is ready.

It is important to note that smoking can also cause problems in the process. If you want to go through the process, it is important to prepare yourself and ensure that you are in great health for a high success rate of the dental implant procedure.

If you have some dental problems and you have heard about the possibility of having dental implants as a solution to your problem, it is good to know what this dental procedure means and what benefits it will give in case you go through the process.

A dental implant procedure allows the replacement of your tooth with an artificially made titanium screw-shaped tooth. The screw that is used is not similar to what you see in the hardware store. The screw has been manufactured with careful and thorough process using sophisticated technology tools. As a result of this, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of an expensive high-technology screw-shaped tooth.

In the manufacturing of the dental implant, titanium is used because of its ability to osseointegrate with the bone. This means it has the capability to bond with the bone biologically making the implant possible. The bone can grow around it like a normal and natural tooth. This is the technology that makes dental implant successful.

Because of the high success rate of dental implant procedures, many have realized that this is a better option in solving some dental problems. The following are some of the advantages of using this technology:

1. It is more comfortable.

Because of the bond of the titanium tooth to your bone, you will forget that your dental implant is not real. You will feel as if you have your natural tooth. There are no inconveniences and discomfort after going through a dental implant procedure.

2. Dental implants look better.

With the use of technology, your dental implant can look real. Nobody will notice the difference. The results are very much similar to your natural teeth.

3. Your oral health will improve.

With the procedure of placing implants in the areas where there are no teeth, your implant will not affect any existing teeth. The connection is with your jaw bone and not with your natural teeth. This generally will stimulate the use of your bone and can prevent bone loss and degradation in the area. Also, with dental implants, it is easier to maintain oral hygiene because of easy and undisturbed access to your teeth. Everyday care and attention is easy and manageable.

With the information given above, you are already equipped with the knowledge about the nature and advantages of dental implants. You can decide if this is something that you need to solve your dental problems.

Dental insurance is a benefit typically provided by employers to help offset some of the high cost of dental care. Depending on your situation, you may be able to have dental insurance with your employer, or you may be self employed and be needed to look at other options. Let's take a look at both dental insurance and group dental plans. Both work to get you dental coverage, but each is a little different.

A good general health plan includes good dental health. Dental insurance is a benefit typically provided by employers to help offset some of the costs of dental care. Dental insurance generally pays claims directly to the dentist for most dental procedures. Dental insurance will pay the dentist a fixed amount or percentage for each dental procedure. Normally, dental benefits allow you to use any dentist you choose. Check your plan details to make sure you understand your options.

Individual dental care plans are also available and provide dental benefits similar to dental insurance you can get through an employer. Individual dental insurance is often more expensive than group dental. And, medical and dental insurance like this can come with waiting periods. The benefit to an individual plan is you can choose the features you want, and are not bound by the groups' plan.

Sometimes, reducing dental plans would be a better fit for dental insurance. Depending on your financial situation, you can opt for a discount dental plan. Discount dental plans generally do not have waiting periods or application forms and are less than the cost of dental insurance. The other options of dental plans offer a payment schedule for dental procedures performed by dentists in a network of dentists. People with any reduction of dental plans can make significant savings on procedures such as cleanings, fillings, crowns and root canals if it is done by a dentist within the network. The downside of the discount plans are usually features. Because you are paying less, you often have less choice and control over the benefit providers. But for someone with little income, any dental plan is better than nothing.

Dental insurance and reduced dental plans can work together to provide better dental care. Many plans have dental waiting times of up to 12 months before major dental services are covered. Dental insurance also typically covers a maximum annual of $750 - $ 2000 for dental procedures. If someone needs dental care immediately, reduced dental plans would save money on dental procedures immediately, dental insurance and could start paying once the waiting times are met.

Dental bridges in India are available at recognized dentistry clinics of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore including Hyderabad are available at a reasonable cost for replacement of missing teeth. If you have missing teeth or have an abnormal face look due to awkard positioning of teeth then dental reconstructive procedures like dental bridges could provide you a new look. Dental bridges is one of the most recognized dental procedures for giving the dental framework with artificial teeth that look natural and beautiful. Dentistry in India is providing international medical quality and affordable price dental procedures like dental bridges to Indian as well as abroad dental patients. The time period of procedure of dental bridges in India is very less and results are satisfactory.

Dental bridges in India are provided under the supervision of abroad trained dentists to get excellent post surgery results. Dental bridges are dental tools that are used for restoring your smile and ability to chew and speak properly. Dental bridges also help in reshaping the look of your face. Dental bridges are constructed of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are known as pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants. Dental bridges are of three types: traditional dental bridges that are made for creating a crown for the tooth or implant on either side of the missing tooth, cantilever dental bridges are used when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth and maryland bonded dental bridges that are made of plastic teeth and gums and are used for bonding your existing teeth. Preparation of dental bridges involve recontouring teeth by removing a portion of enamel to allow room for a crown to be placed over them. The impressions of your teeth are made, which serve as a model from which the bridge, pontic, and crowns will be made by a dental laboratory. Your dentist will make a temporary bridge for you to wear for protection of the exposed teeth and gums while your dental bridges are being prepared. After your dental bridges are prepared your temporary bridges will be removed and the permanent dental bridges will be checked and adjusted within oyur dental framework.

Everyone loves a winning smile. It's a symbol of success as well as physically appealing to look at. This probably explains North America's fixation with brushing, flossing, whitening and gargling; everyone aspires to those shiny pearly whites.

Chances are this isn't going to change anytime soon. In light of the current recession, job security is at the top of everyone's priority list. If you're looking for job security, look no further than a career in dental hygiene.

Becoming A Dental Hygienist

Canada has a wealth of options for the post-secondary student looking to pursue a career in dental hygiene. From the University of British Columbia to Dalhousie University, schools across the country offer programs in dental hygiene.

To pursue a degree in dental hygiene, students generally must have the following secondary school credits or International Baccalaureate / Advanced Placement (IB/AP) equivalents in order to qualify for an admission to first year:

English 11, English 12, A Grade 11 language course, Biology 11, Biology 12, Chemistry 11, Chemistry 12, Principles of Mathematics 11, Social Studies 11 or First Nations Studies 12, One other approved provincially examinable Grade 12 course.

What To Expect

Dental hygienists are registered and certified health professionals trained to maintain your oral integrity. Specializing in the prevention of oral health problems and mouth diseases, dental hygienists work with individual clients or communities to prevent tooth, gum and mouth diseases and injuries that can affect a patient's overall health.

One of the interesting aspects of being a dental hygienist is the range of the patient base. Dental hygiene services are provided to people of all ages, ranging from parents in pre-natal classes to the elderly in long-term health care centres. A typical workday could involve assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating health care data and include:

Teaching an elementary class about oral health care, Counseling a family about oral health, Providing fluoride treatments to patients during a dental visit, Administering local anesthetic for dental hygiene or dental treatment, Teaching long-term care staff about mouth care for their clients, Working with nurses to prevent sports and playground injuries, Screening seniors for signs of oral cancer, Performing head, neck and oral examinations, Applying pit and fissure sealants to teeth, Reviewing literature and conducting research, Scaling, root-planning, and so on.

Preventive health care is another part of a dental hygienist's profession. Many dental hygienists deliver health promotion programs in their community to parent and special needs groups; schools, day cares and long-term seniors' care facilities. These programs usually include tobacco cessation advocacy, sports/mouth guard clinics and baby care seminars.

Practicing Dental Hygiene in Canada

In order to practice dental hygiene in Canada, registered dental hygienists (RDHs) must complete a recognized dental program, and be registered or licensed with the appropriate provincial or territorial regulatory authorities.

Clinical vs. Community Practice

Dental hygienists have the option of working in both community and clinical practices.

Clinical Practice

In clinical practice, dental hygienists most often work with general practitioner dentists or specialty practice dentists. They work directly with patients to prevent and treat gum disease and tooth decay. They are trained to:

Assess tooth and gum health, Prepare individualized dental hygiene treatment plans, refer patients to a dentist for dental treatment.

The role of the clinical dental hygienist is not solely limited to looking after the cosmetic appearance of teeth and gums, but also perform complex services like scaling and root planning to treat gum infections.

Some Canadian provinces allow dental hygienists to own their own dental hygiene practice. For example, RDHs can practice independently in British Columbia, Ontario and some American states. Increasingly, as more provincial/territorial legislation allows dental hygienists to open their own clinical practice, entrepreneurial skills are becoming more important for dental hygienists.

Community Practice

Dental hygienists working in community practices varies in scope. They may work with individuals on a one-to-one basis, or deal with entire communities. Dental hygienists may perform health surveys for a community and work with other health professionals to design a health program for those communities.

They often evaluating the effectiveness of current health care procedures and programs while identifying the need for ones. A dental hygienist will work with a variety of health professionals and community members including nurses, speech pathologists, injury prevention coordinators, dentists, physicians and dietitians.

Community members may include school principals, teachers, parents, coaches, day care providers, health advocates, government departments, and administrators of other health promotion programs in the community.

Some dental hygienists choose to specialize in health programs for new Canadians, cancer (oncology) patients, expectant moms or homeless teens. Community health practice offers much variety to a dental hygiene career.

There are many interesting and exciting career opportunities for dental hygienists. Dental hygienists may find themselves with a variety of roles and responsibilities to choose from. These include roles as: Clinicians, Educators, Administrators, Researchers.

Depending on whether they choose to work in a clinical or community practice, dental hygienists may practice in a variety of environments such as: Private dental practices, Public health and community health centres, Professional dental hygiene associations and regulatory bodies, Homecare and outreach programs, Universities and community colleges, Government (policy and planning, lobbying), Industry (insurance and dental supply companies), Consulting, Research.

Salary

The median hourly wage of Canadian dental hygienists with less than one year of experience is roughly C$ 31.16, according to PayScale.

Is Dental Hygiene Right For You?

Dental hygiene is a profession that offers job security as well as a wealth of different job opportunities. Graduates of post-secondary degree institutions have the option of working in either clinical or community practices, and with a wide range of clients.

The multitude of available roles leaves room career diversity for dental hygienists to hone their various skills. If this sounds appealing, than dental hygiene may just be the career to put a smile on your face.

It is unfortunate that people do not give the required attention to their teeth and dental care as they do for other kind of diseases and illnesses. In order to minimize the costs on dental treatments and to prevent dental diseases it is good to have a dental plan to take care of all such problems. Dental plans differ from the dental insurance by the type and feature. Almost all the dental plans take a member ship fee which varies from one plan to another plan. Also, dental plans can be either offered to individuals or to the family on the whole. The family dental plans offer higher discounts than the individual dental plans. Before selecting the appropriate dental plan it is good to check the rates charged under different plans. Also the type of coverage provided to the dental services matters a lot while selecting the dental plans.

Dental services covered under the dental plans:

Normally most of the basic dental procedures like the regular dental check ups, treatments like the cleaning procedure, oral examination, teeth filling, fluoride treatment and teeth extraction are covered by dental plans. But, the dental plans do not cover major dental treatments like oral surgeries, restorative dental care, root canal treatments, dental implants, braces etc. Under such circumstances the dental plans allow the policy holder to get reimbursement for the amount spent on the basic dental treatment and the other expenses should be born by the patient himself. Certain dental plans may not allow selecting a dentist of the policy holder’s choice and the patient has to undergo dental care treatments from the dentist mentioned in the dental plan. Hence, the policy holder before selecting the dental plan should check for a dentist present in his area and also for any schedule is mentioned in the dental plan or not. Dental plans can be availed either monthly or annually. The annual dental plan is supposed to be more cost efficient than the monthly dental plan.

Discount dental plans:

Discount dental plan is considered to be an affordable option. This dental plan offers discounts on all dental care treatments ranging from 10 – 60 percentages. It also covers dental works like braces, bridges, dentures, root canal treatments etc. This is possible by showing the membership card to the dentist while taking the dental treatment of any kind.

Reasons for choosing discount dental plans:

The main reason for choosing discount dental plan is that, it is very cost effective. The premium to be paid towards the dental plan is very low in spite of the coverage being much better. The money paid up front is also very low.

Discount dental plans can be availed for even pre existing dental diseased conditions and there is no exclusion. Discount dental plans help people when they are needed and for the purpose they avail it.

There is no hassle of filling forms as the person has to present the discount card and avail discounts from the dentists. Even the dentists are happy about discount cards as their time and energy is saved. It also offers a large list of dentists to choose from. The very important aspect is that even cosmetic dentistry is covered under dental plans making them very lucrative.

There are as many ways to design dental websites, as there are ways to create and build dental practices. When designing your dental facility, you need to take many things into consideration: funds available, your technical needs, the image you want to project, the number of patients you want to be able to treat, remodeling or new construction, etc.

Dental website design also requires that you consider many elements and deal with them as prudently as a building project if you want the results you expect.

Some dentists just want to have a basic presence online; other dentists want to challenge or overtake the competition. When they consider the artistic design they want to see in their dental Internet site, some are not too worried about it and others demand nothing less than award winning beauty and class.

Which type of dental website is the best form of dental marketing? Which dentists need exceptional website design? Who should pay more for their dental website? When should design take precedence over content? Is a Flash animation Internet site better than a SEO (search engine optimization) content rich website?

Let's look at each type of web site design so you can make a more informed decision. There are at least 6 categories of dental website design and price ranges you might find in an Internet search:

    1) Business Card Dental Websites : price range is $0 to $500*

    2) Informational Internet Dental Sites: $500 to $2,500*

    3) Image Builder Dental Websites: $2,000-$5,000*

    4) Comprehensive Dental Internet Sites: $5,000 to $10,000*

    5) Leadership Dental Web sites: $5,000 to $15,000*

    6) Search Engine Optimized or SEO Dental Internet sites: $3,000 to $20,000*

Conclusion: You need a Dental Web site Design that Reflects Your Practice Image

For each design style, answers to these specific questions will be provided:

    • What kind of dental website is this?

    • Who needs a dental web site like this?

    • What can it do?

    • How is cost determined?

    • What should you pay?

*These are just close proximity costs for all dental Internet marketing firms and depend on the website design qualifications discussed in this dental marketing article. Your brother's friend's cousin's neighbor might be able to design a dental website for less.

1) Business Card Dental Websites: $0 to $500:

What kind of dental website is this?

There is very little design (usually) involved in this site. Often it is one page, the dental logo (if the dentist has one) and some mention of services with address, phone and email. The navigation and header bar might match the color of the dental logo, but artistic cohesiveness is minimal.

Who needs a dental web site like this?

This type of website is for dentists who know people are looking for them online, but are not very interested in growing their business or aren't concerned about being found in general search engine searches (Google, MSN, or Yahoo). It can also be a good plan for the dentist that wants something now - they have printed up marketing materials with their dental web site address and are just not ready to do more. If you are just starting out - want to be online like everyone else - but are not ready to develop your "complete" dental image - this could be your destination. Cosmetic dentists focused on bringing in more cosmetic dentistry patients or increasing their large restorative smile makeovers clientele would not benefit from this type of site in most markets. The competition in cosmetic dentistry requires more than one or two pages of "evidence of value". Family dentists who also want to do a few cosmetic cases each month would only want to use this as a short-term strategy.

What can it do?

It can provide a bridge to that day when the dentist is ready to more. For those who are looking for a basic presence for the long run, it will provide a base to direct their marketing and a way to hook up to various dental Internet directory services such as FindADentist.com or SuperPages.com so prospective dental patients can get more than an address and phone number.

How is cost determined?

The zero dollar cost can come from you creating the site yourself, a relative "who knows design", or various "free" web site design sites. These "free" companies usually require some type of monthly "hosting" fee. The larger amount comes from a more sophisticated design and someone who will take more care in your design needs. The higher cost design means you hopefully get more than someone cramming your photo and dental logo into HTML code.

What should you pay?

If you're a dentist in a small market or rural area or are not in need of tons of dental patients today, you might want to test out some of the lower cost options like your telephone or yellow pages company Internet directory. Dentists who want to do more soon or are in a highly competitive market should not create a "cheap" look that might damage their image for the long-term. Even if it’s a small, business-card-sized dental website, you might want to find a designer that knows how to create an effective transition image website. While I believe very few should go this way - if you want to be successful - there are good ways and bad ways to go about it. Choosing the platform for your dental Internet site can be thought of in terms of building a dental practice next to a Black and Decker outlet store versus a Day Spa. Which will reflect better on your dental brand?

2) Informational Dental Internet Sites: $500 to $2,500

What kind of dental website is this?

This type of design brings more "evidence of value" to the fore. There is some artistic and branding cohesiveness involved in this type of dental Internet site design. However, mostly it is about providing information on the dentist, the dental practice and its dental services. There are usually a few more photos than a biz card site and you might have some custom "artistic choices". This type of dental website is often pleasant to look at, just not beautiful or breathtaking. It might be 3 to 15 pages in size (or bigger) depending on what route you take. The design is mostly a navigation bar on the left and header bar on top and text/photos to the right. Your dental logo colors might be part of the design if it's not a "restricted" stock Internet site.

Who needs a dental web site like this?

This type of Internet site better serves dentists who want to provide a context for the value of their dental services beyond the "grocery list" of services group. A cosmetic dentist needs to explain why the dental consumer should want this type of service and why they are the right choice for cosmetic dentistry. Family dentists and orthodontists need to create a story to prove the value of their services too: if there are ten competitors in the community, you don't want to be the last choice. An informational site works good as a "starter site" especially if you just want to test the waters. If you are in a highly competitive retail market or segment of the dental arena like extreme makeovers, than this design probably won't give you the boost you want. Posting all your smile makeovers (before and after photos) will help: but informational design, which might include some blended branding elements, does not usually have the Wow factor many extreme makeover type candidates will expect.

What can it do?

This dental web site design will "tell" people you know what you are doing. It might not be a design that Wows, but it can provide information that is very helpful in the decision making process: before and after photos, testimonials, and an explanation of what cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, or other services can do for their lives, and the dentist's expertise, etc. Whereas a business card Internet site will verify that you exist, an informational dental website will actually start creating more patients.

How is cost determined?

This kind of website design takes more thought, more planning, copywriting and much more programming than a one or two page business card site. Should you have 15 links on your home page that link to every page that can overwhelm the visitor or 5 links that narrow down their navigation choices to better define your brand? Which should be more prominently featured: the dental practice's look and feel, the dentist or that you are a Sedation dentist? These decisions can slow the process (and make for a better product) but this requires some amount of time, which is money. Usually you will get a page limit (5 or 10 page website), and then a per web page charge. Some web design firms charge upfront for copywriting or it is extra. You might get a per photo limit. All these factors control the price and as you can probably tell, the price can keep going up.

What should you pay?

Some dentists are not very interested in design artistry or advancing their "visual brand", but want their ideas and the value of their services and dental expertise to be explained effectively: those dentists will benefit from this type of website design structure. A web site design firm that does all kinds of sites and has thousands of clients might do it for less than a grand, but a dental marketing firm can add the type of insight that puts your site in a league all by itself. It all depends on your perspective of value: something you probably discuss with your patients everyday. While you could develop a dental website like this on your own or with a "bulk" web design group (for "near zero" dollars), it is not as easy as it seems to create an effective dental Internet site. When you are ready to take the leap, make sure you know what you're getting. Going too shallow on price can mean you go without some specialization you really need: like the contractor that has never built a dental practice and forgets to put plumbing in the operatory.

3) Image Builder Dental Web sites: $2,000-$5000

What kind of dental website is this?

This type of website design provides a level of image, brand and identity development that many dentists believe is necessary to encourage people to accept comprehensive dental treatment and/or a cosmetic smile makeover. Since the consumer makes choices based on many stimuli, it is important to try and cover all the bases. You can tell them till you are blue in the face about the effects of bad hygiene on your informational web site, but often it is a visual stimulus that gets them to stop and consider your plea. Creating a dental Internet site that incorporates an above average visual theme (best when designed with your dental logo as a theme element) encourages the visually inspired consumer to take another look at your evidence and read more thoroughly about your value.

Who needs a dental web site like this?

About one in 10 dentists would need to move to this level. If you want to standout from the crowd, this web site design style offers the capability to do it. A good informational site is like a very functional dental practice that offers nice but basic amenities with efficient service. A good image dental website is a facility where fresh flowers greet you at the front desk and a coral aquarium comforts you in the reception area. Dental patients who have only been to the "functional one" will think it is just what a dental practice (or website) should be. But if they are ever exposed to the comforting practice (or image web site) it will be difficult to make them believers in "functional" again. If you believe there is no competition for patients in your area, you probably don't need an image website. However, if you want to capture the dental consumer who wants a higher level of care, then an image dental website can make the difference for many people. Remember you may not be visually inspired, but many of your target dental patients will be.

What can it do?

This type of dental website design provides many consumers with a positive and powerful link to your personality (or the personality of your practice) that words and even pictures (before and after photos, beautiful models or photos of your dental office) cannot. Imagine a beautiful dental practice with a national expert dentist, and a superior dental team, all the latest technology and every spa amenity built five miles down a scenic yet dusty, dirt road. While you got the land cheap and the county promises they will pave it in the near future, visitors will be infrequent. There are many dental Internet sites built like this: without a dental brand that has been paved properly. You could be the top website on the top five search engines and never get someone to go deeper than your home page. In many sites there might be a blob of text here or a photo there, but nothing guiding their visual journey. A good image website will bring in dental patients that want exactly what you're offering: nothing more, nothing less. It depicts your level of customer service, smile design, and comfort. It encourages "dental patients" to become "smile enthusiasts".

How is cost determined?

When creating a website like this, designers and writers want to know a lot about you. They want to understand where the design should go and not go. Should a photo of a beautiful model be employed within the design? What design elements of your dental logo can be accented or enhanced to create a seamless web design? Do you have a lot of before and after photos or is there some aspect of your expertise that can be highlighted (smile makeovers, neuromuscular dentistry, dental implants, etc.)? There is more artistic work required. An informational or starter website has a navigational bar on the left and a header bar on the top. An image site creates a seamless design from top to bottom and from side to side. Bluntly, there is more for you to critique so the designer needs to do more careful work and research so the final design is completed in a respectable amount of time. Throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks is not a good plan.

What should you pay?

No one should pay more than is necessary, but it mostly comes down to what kind of "image" design you like and who can produce it. It might be the guy down the street, it could be a big corporate website design group and for many dentists it is a firm specializing in dental marketing that knows what patients want. Should you pay more for a Van Gogh or for a Picasso? If you want to be the TOP dental Internet site in the state, you pay more than the dentist who just wants to feel good when he looks at his website and wants his new patients to feel good when they see it.

4) Comprehensive Dental Internet Websites: $5,000 to $10,000

What kind of dental website is this?

This Web site is basically a larger version of an informational or an image website. It just holds more information and has more visuals (photos, etc.) than its cousins. It has anywhere from 20 to 100 or more pages and probably is written by a dental copywriter. It might have Flash animation to spice up its look and boost the value of some of its information presentations.

Who needs a dental web site like this?

About 1 in 50 dentists could utilize a dental Internet site like this. Dentists with a large library of before and after smile makeover photos, an extensive history of dental CE, teaching, speaking or lecturing, and/or a good background noted in several dental public relations efforts can best use this type of site. No one is going to read or look at everything presented on a site like this, but it provides enough evidence to prove any expertise claims you might be promoting. You pick the "real" dental expert: 1) "Hi, I am really, really, really good at what I do: now look at my 5 page website. 2) "Hello, I have learned from the best, but you should review my qualifications first: take a look at my comprehensive website filled with all kinds of proof."

What can it do?

This dental website design level will encourage, enlighten, inspire, transform, and cajole. Encourage belief in your values. Enlighten consumers about what is possible now. Inspire them to take action to make their lives better. Transform them from dental insurance reliant to cosmetic dentistry aware. Finally: Cajole them to call you ASAP.

How is cost determined?

Dental websites like this are not very common. The big website behemoths are really not ready to create this site for you: cookie cutter is much more profitable for them. This is really where custom work starts. Even doing an image website can be "stock" because it is a home page and a few other pages. Many design websites that seem to promote custom design are just changing colors, photos, reversing design elements, etc. and are not actually starting from scratch. However, once you get to this level - over 15 or 20 pages, the dental web designer needs to be intimately involved with your concept. You don't want someone else's design for this type of site. You also don’t want 50 links on your home page to every page on your site - unless you want to confuse visitors about what your dental brand is. You determine what the five or so most important parts of your brand are and then everything else branches off from there. Think of comprehensive dental website development process as you would creating a new dental practice. What would happen if you asked the contractor who put in your foundation to furnish your office? Even I could furnish a dental office! But some things that "we all can do" should be left to someone who has the actual talent and experience. Of course, if you want me to furnish your dental office, my cousin loves to go to garage sales and I'm sure he could find you something NICE.

What should you pay?

I figure this type of dental website should generate "at least" enough to pay for itself in the first six months to a year. Therefore, I would not pay more than what you make off of one good smile makeover case or three or four 6 or 8-unit cases. This is for the initial Internet site design phase not additional updates or maintenance. Family dentists, Pediatric dentists, orthodontists and other specialists (if a web site like this needed in their market) the cost should reflect the value of 3 new patients every month to one every other month: depending on your per patient profits. Also figure the website will have a shelf life of 5 years: give or take one year, depending on how competitive your retail area is. Of course, many dentists will not be satisfied with these results, but this gives you a basis for making some ROI decisions. Depending on your retail area some Internet dental marketing will be required to encourage better ROI site activity.

5) Leadership Dental Web Sites: $7,500 to $15,000

What kind of dental website is this?

This Leadership website has many amenities besides a news page to announce the latest happenings at the dental practice and a complete image blend. It can have a Flash animation dental logo presentation, Flash smile shows, a large before and after smile makeover library, public relations elements and features, educational presentations (Flash), lecture schedule, etc. It might be a Flash website with links to HTML pages. The size is usually over 25 pages - especially if it is not a Flash site. It should be a dental website design award winner.

Who needs a dental web site like this?

About 1 in 200 dentists or fewer require this level of web site design. You don't have to be a lecturing dentist or a celebrity dentist to go this route. It might be that your retail market is very competitive and you want to stand out from the crowd. You might be producing the income you want, but see the need to head off the competition. The market can change quickly and many dentists recognize today's method might not be tomorrow's success. If you are not too concerned about being first on the search engines and just want to Wow and inform, than a website designed completely in Flash animation could be advantageous in developing a leadership position.

What can it do?

This dental Internet site design can enhance every element of your dental brand so you gain and/or hold a high level marketing position. It should create a different level of patient: more informed and more excited about the value of restorative, esthetic or cosmetic dentistry.

How is cost determined?

Much of the cost of this dental website design is determined by time (the size and complexity) and the custom elements you want. There are stock Flash designs and "half-custom" designs, which are on the low end of the spectrum. Then there are from scratch custom dental marketing elements that will be on the higher end. If you write it yourself, you will save money on dental copywriting.

What should you pay?

It really depends on how much time you want to put into it. If you want great custom design with very good copywriting, employ a firm that specializes in dental marketing design and writing. If you want your site to kind of look like someone else's and read like it too than a "half custom" firm will do just fine. However, sometimes you can get custom work for the same price as "half custom". Watch out: there some big dental agencies that have so much overhead that they need to charge as much for "not really custom work" as smaller design groups do for custom.

6) Search Engine Optimized or SEO Dental Internet Sites: $3,000 to $20,000

What kind of dental website is this?

This type of website is liked by search engines: Google.com, MSN.com, Yahoo.com, etc. Type in a term like cosmetic dentistry, neuromuscular dentistry or cosmetic dentist or just plain dentist and the state and/or city you live in and you will see why many dentists want this type of website optimization. It is a text rich website: Flash sites need not apply at least most of them. You can make a Flash dental website more friendly to search engines but never as good as a non-Flash site. (A complementary HTML Internet site is one way to increase your Flash site's exposure to search engines.) However, you can have Flash animation elements and still get great search engine receptivity. It probably should be at least 20 pages and continue to grow and change each quarter if not each month. It should have an updatable page where you can input news regularly about your dental practice. This design can be an image or informational website and can have a lot of images (before and after photos and practice photos). To create a search engine friendly site requires special coding and copywriting enriched with dental SEO friendly terms.

Who needs a dental web site like this?

This really depends on whether you want to be near or on the top of search engine searches. This is a marketing strategy more than a design per se. It is not a one-time deal: it requires constant changes and monitoring of the search engine rules. Because they regularly change their search algorithms you might be on top on day and down or out the next. It works best for those in areas where few sites are optimized. Say you have a cosmetic dental practice in Springfield, Illinois and no other dentist is marketing cosmetic dentistry. Then a site focused on this topic could have a good chance of being ranked number one. However, if you are in Los Angeles, CA, your chances are much lower of getting a high ranking unless you are focused on a narrower concept such as neuromuscular dentistry.

What can it do?

It can increase the number of phone calls and emails especially in the first few weeks of a high ranking such as one, two or three. This lets you know your website is actually working for you. After that it should keep creating leads for you at a good pace until another dentist takes over your spot. Unfortunately, for some areas it might take many tweaks of your dental Internet site design and SEO content before anything occurs. One argument against reliance on search engine optimization is that you don’t really create new converts you are just waiting for the current ones to locate your dental website. Proactive, external dental Internet advertising such as magazines, direct mail or newspaper presents new ideas like smile makeovers to new people. Meaning if you are not willing to do both in some consistent form, you might only have limited success. (SEO is just one-way to get noticed on search engines: search engine advertising is another way: with Google or Overture, which is MSN, Yahoo and others.)

How is cost determined?

The cost of a SEO dental web site design is determined by the number of pages and images you need optimized. There is often an initial fee to do the basic changes along with the per web page charge and an ongoing fee to keep you near or on the top of the search engines you want to be on top of. Once again there are SEO firms that specialize in search engine optimization for all kinds of websites and there are dental marketing firms specializing in dentist web sites who have SEO expertise. Which is best for you? Maybe an analogy using dental practice construction might help: Imagine getting the most productive, highest profile contractor in the state to develop your dental practice versus getting a contractor who has developed five really nice practices in your area to design it. One might have a deeper background in contracting, but which one will be more likely to anticipate all of your needs from a dental perspective?

What should you pay?

If it is an image website design with Flash animation and has many pages, you will be paying on the high end. If you choose an SEO group - not a dental marketer - you might pay more for optimization but less for image design, which they won't probably do very well. You can get good SEO coding and SEO rich content (copywriting) and keep the page numbers down under 15 and get a less expensive site. However, a smaller Internet site probably would not battle the behemoth dental competitor, but it might work in a smaller and/or less competitive retail community. If you are cranking in 1.5 million dollars per year with one dentist and want to keep that pace in this changing environment - a $20,000 SEO image website probably makes sense. Few doctors will get the number one spot so the cost can vary greatly to get near or on top. Expect to pay more the tougher your dentistry market is and if you really want the top spot. Google.com has a good primer on SEO and pay per click. Here is a place to start: Google SEO reference page.

CONCLUSION: You Need a Dental Website Design that Reflects Your Practice Image

When a dental marketing firm designs dental logos, brochures and presentation folders, they don't design them to favor the image of a family and pediatric dental practice when the client runs a cosmetic dentistry and spa dental practice. You also need to make sure your website does not stray from your image. Therefore, if you have just purchased an older dental practice and have one year of experience, a leadership web site would be a stretch. Conversely, if you have a dental CV a mile long and/or dozens of before and after smile photos, a business card web site shoots your potential in the foot.

From a cost perspective, never pay more or less than you have the potential to garner from the dental Internet marketing generated. If you're serving a middle class clientele that will focus mostly on what their dental insurance pays for, a Lexus dental website would not make sense. Then again, dentists who want people to promote their extreme makeover expertise should not drive up in a used Ford Taurus. Of course, you could create a web façade that makes you seem more than you are. But once the patient walks into your dental practice, this façade of a website can cause significant consumer confusion, which means they are a lot less likely to commit to your treatment plan.

Your dental practice image and the web image should correspond to create true brand cohesion to build your dental practice long-term. Patients will recognize inaccuracies. Remember, referrals are still important. For example, if you are in an older dental practice and are not going to build or significantly remodel in the next two or three years, your web site, and the rest of your image, should reflect much of this reality.

There are patients for every type of dental image: from both sides of the fee spectrum. For example, a "low cost looking" dental web site (done well) can attract even high-paying customers because they perceive you as taking care of business first and worrying about your image second. Not "wasting" your money on "frivolous" extras. Of course, another spectrum sees this as cheap and lacking the comforts they require. Therefore, knowing who you really are (and/or want to be) helps you decide which level and type of dental website is best for your practice.

Dental marketing firms are no different. There are about 200,000 dentists in the US and Canada: one in 400 will want and benefit from the services of my dental Internet marketing company over the next 10 years. They will see and believe something positive about me that others do not. If they believe something about me, or my marketing company, after reviewing my website and that turns out not to be "true", I will not gain a client or the relationship will be very short.

They might be wrong - but my dental marketing website needs to speak correctly to the type of client I want or I gain few clients. That's because my website is me, and my company, to a large extent. You will need to think of your dental Internet site in the same way.

Finally, when choosing a dental Internet site developer, consider three things:

    1) Have a "buyer beware" attitude. "Free" might not be free. No obligation might include some obligations. Etc.

    2) Do some cost versus benefit competitor research. Every dental marketing firm comes at it from a different direction. Cheaper might mean less benefit and higher cost might mean they have too much overhead not better products.

    3) Call me old fashioned, but I still believe in people... Don't let the "Internet" be the final arbiter of your decision: make sure you feel comfortable with your choice including the person you are directly working with. They should get to know you beyond your payment method and the colors you like. A dental website is a major part of your image and Internet site building software alone can't flesh that out.

Good Luck. I hope this helps in your decision.

Sincerely, Dick Chwalek

Dental Implants provide outstanding aesthetic and functional benefits to patients. Reduced irritation and oral sores (generally associated with Dentures) as well as increased support, stability and biting pressure are all experienced after treatment.
