Wrapped Toothbrushes
My cat has black bacteria growing around his claws.?

Vet is stumped. I have given the cat a course of antibiotics. I wash his claws with antibacterial/alcohol/hydrogen peroxide mixtures and scrub all the black off with a soft toothbrush. (Cat does not appreciate this treatment) I wrap him up in a very warm thick towel and this keeps him calm. But, 3 days later the black stuff grows back. He is otherwise healthy and energetic.

I have a cat with this too. My vet said it's normal for some cats and not a big deal. She said some believe it is allergy related-so you may want to get your cat allergy tested. My cat has been like this for 10 years..it's never got any worse and we just don't worry about it.
