When is it ok to switch your 3 yr old from training toothpate to kid's toothpaste?

My toddler isn't the best at spitting out the toothpaste. We are currently using Orajel Training Toothpaste.... it is flouride free. I recently purchased Colgate .15% flouride kid's toothpaste. Is it ok to use or should I wait another year? Directions on back say children 2+ but I am worried about him swallowing excessive amounts of flouride. Thoughts?

I think if you use just a tiny amount of toothpaste on the brush ( the "pea" size recomended) then your son will probably be fine.

My son wasn't the best at spitting either. The way I managed to train him to get those little bathroom cups. For some reason he was more likely to spit out the water from those cups then from a regular one. Have you tried this with your son?

Another trick I've heard works is to let your kids brush their teeth in the tub.
