what is the best method for teeth whitening?

I am looking for a teeth whitening product/service that can give me permanent white teeth. There are so many different methods such as whitening pens, whitening strips, whitening toothpaste or simply paying to get my teeth bleached at my local dentist. So the question is which method can offer the best overall results in the least time and that is permanent.

Your dentist can hook you up with a gel that goes in some trays. That worked really well for me, better than any of the over the counter stuff and about the same price. If you want less invasive, get some mouthwash with baking soda or other lightener in it.

argh, I am going nuts. Aight, what do you call a whitening pen (you know the thing with bleach-like substance that is used for correcting mistakes made by a pen on a piece of paper?

No, I don't know why I am asking this question in a dental section, its just every time I try to google whitening pen it comes up with dental hygiene stuff. ARGH I am going crazy.
